As a direct result of the loss of their reconnaissance aircraft through friendly fire, Russia are to bring in their formidable S300 air defence system to Syria.  They also announced that they would be using electronic counter measures to all incoming aircraft over Syrian air space.  Russia still lay the blame on Israel for the incident.

Israel said a number of months ago that they would not allow such an advanced system to be deployed in Syria.  So now we will have to wait and see how this situation developes, will Israel strike the system as soon as it lands or will they be confronted by Russian air defences.

After the downing of their aircraft during or after an Israeli strike on Iranian targets in Syria, Russia have announced a no fly zone for Israeli aircraft over Syria until 28th of September.  This action will further tension on all sides, Iran have already taken advantage of this and are flying in equipment and weapons.  More updates to follow, here are some video reports with more information of the overall situation.

The situation in Syria continues to heat up.  Overnight there was a major attack on Syrian military positions in Latakia, Northern Syria.  Israeli jets engaged Syrian positions alleged to be an Iranian arms depot and research facility for chemical weapons.  This attack was also supported by 28 tomahawk cruise missiles allegedly launched from British and French ships in the Mediterranean.

During this attack, a Russian reconnaissance plane was mistakenly shot down by Syrian air defences that were trying to hit the Israeli planes.   Putin is very angry and blaming Israel for the loss of the 15 Russian service men.

Previously Putin brokered a deal with Turkey to set a 20 KM buffer zone in Idlib starting near mid October as well as the removal of the more radical militants from the area. Will this work in staying off further escalation?

One of the highest watch times of the year in Bible prophecy is the Feast of Trumpets, also know as Yom Teruah (day of shouting or blasting in Hebrew).  In Israel it is known as Rosh Hashanah (The beginning or the head of the year).  It is also known as the festival that no-one knows the day or the hour (which reminds of Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”)
 
Yom Teruah is one of the Feasts of the Lord (Moedim – Appointed meeting times or festivals) from Leviticus Ch23.  Each Biblical feast carries special meaning and prophetic symbolism that points to the Jesus and His sacrifice for us. 
 
The feasts are divided into the spring and Autumn (Fall) seasons.   The first 3 feasts of spring (Passover, First fruits & Festival of weeks) were fulfilled in sequence by Jesus’ first coming so it is surely reasonable to believe the remaining feasts will also be fulfilled in sequence by His second coming, the first of which being Yom Teruah.

Many watchmen and  Bible scholars believe that the rapture or catching away of the church is directly linked to Yom Teruah.  (I will provide more information and resources on Yom Teruah later in this post.)
