What is it?
Viruses are microscopic parasites, generally much smaller than bacteria. They lack the capacity to thrive and reproduce outside of a body however, it can also stay alive on surfaces for a number of days depending on the environment, some reports say 5 days others upto 7 days or possibly longer. The virus is also small enough to be airborne in droplet form from coughs and sneezes and through unprotected ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a flu like virus that mainly attacks the respiratory system (the lungs) and replicates quickly. If the body cannot produce enough antibodies to fight it then it overpowers the immune system usually resulting in pneumonia which can be fatal.
Good hygeine such as washing hands and wiping down surfaces is good practiice. Wearing a cloth mask will provide no protection whatsoever as virus would be like a fly to chicken wire and there is evidence to suggest that mask wearing if infected can increase the viral load and make the infection worse. Also masks create a warm humid environment which is perfect for bacterial growth, potentially creating other infections.

Nutrition and your immune system
God created us with an amazing immune system which can deal with most viral threats including COVID 19. The best thing you can do for you and your family is to boost your immune system so your body has the best chance to fight any infection. Taking vitamin C is the easiest way help boost your immune system. However, there are a number of ways to do this. Taking a oral tablet or a fizzy tablet drink is good but the problem we have is that due to our digestive system we only absorb around 25% of the dose we have taken. The best recommendation is 10mg vitamin C powder in a water bottle or glass and sip it at intervils through the day - see the video below from Dr Cheng.
Tesco do a 3 for 2 on vitamins, get the strongest dose you can 1000mg.
You can also buy on Amazon (Powdered Vitamin C or 1000mg tablets) - Please note that stock levels change quickly in the current situation.
Another option is Liposmal Vitamin C. It encapsululates the the vitamin C in a liposome which can be used as a vehicle to get the nutrients through your digestive system and absorbed completley. While this method is more efficient it is considerably more expensive. I have used it on occasion with our family and can vouch for its effectiveness.

Vitamin D is also recommended to bolster the immune system, especially in the winter months when we don't have as much natural vitamin D from the sun.

Our diet plays a MAJOR ROLE in our health and immune system of which I can personally testify. Our current standard diet consists of high quantities of sugar in various forms. This leads to a lot of inflamation in the body leaving our immune systems working overtime and in a weakened state. Reducing your sugar intake will definitely help but I would recommend a real food low carbohydrate or Ketogenic diet to get the best results and vastly improved health.
I will provide more information on diet in the coming weeks DV.

Treatment
Most people who get the virus will only suffer from flu like symtoms but evidence is coming in that anti-inflamatory drugs should be delayed or avoided to regulate your temperature as this can work in the virus's favour. Your body naturally increases your temperature to kill the virus so to stop this natural process allows the virus to continue to multiply. However, it should be noted that your temperature should be continully monitored with doctors advice when your temperature is too high and needs to be brought down. Paracetamol is the preferred drug to use as others such as Ibuprofen is not.
