 As a direct result of the loss of their reconnaissance aircraft through friendly fire, Russia are to bring in their formidable S300 air defence system to Syria. They also announced that they would be using electronic counter measures to all incoming aircraft over Syrian air space. Russia still lay the blame on Israel for the incident. Israel said a number of months ago that they would not allow such an advanced system to be deployed in Syria. So now we will have to wait and see how this situation developes, will Israel strike the system as soon as it lands or will they be confronted by Russian air defences.
